What you see here is a great circular depression ringed by masonry, descended into by a concealed passage entering from the north. The interior once held a roof, floor vaults and benches; today you view it from the rim, where the geometry of the structure becomes fully legible—a perspective those who used it would not have had. The canyon itself is remarkably quiet, the light hard and clear, and the views sweep across to Pueblo Bonito and other great houses on the opposite side of the wash.
